Everybody is concerned with aging: because it decreases the quality of life, gives us less energy, less pleasure, less sex, less money because of decreased performance, etc. The solution to the problem is hormone replacement therapy. But the question now is when to start?
The most well know symptom of andropause is erectile dysfunction. So, it?s very simple: get less erections, consider hormone replacement. Well, I do not agree with this. In my opinion the first and most reliable symptom of testosterone decline is weight gain due to the loss of the anabolic effects of loss of anabolic effects of testosterone. Calories go into fat, instead of going into muscles.
With weight increase, the estrogen level goes up, leading to maintenance of the libido level. Erectile dysfunction develops later, when the testosterone level goes too low to maintain even adequate level of estrogen/testosterone ratio. If anybody has any thoughts or ideas about this matter, please let me know.
