Sure, lean meats are good for us. We are encouraged to eat chicken all the time as a healthy alternative. It helps us lose weight, it fills us up, gives us protein. Yes, yes, and yes. But is the chicken you buy at the supermarket laced with arsenic? Yes, yes and yes! The government allows farmers to give chickens a certain amount of arsenic. That amount hasn?t changed in almost 50 years. Yet, we eat twice as much chicken per year as we did 50 years ago. That means, we are taking in toxic amounts of arsenic. And what about children, who eat more chicken in percentages, than adults. Most kids choose chicken over other meats, and parents, who are considering the protein and health benefits, are happy to oblige. Arsenic, used to kill parasites and therefore promote growth of chickens, is lethal in large enough amounts, and when chickens are given arsenic, their manure, which is arsenic laced, goes back into the soil used for other foods. It also goes into the ground up chicken which other animal feed is made of.
You can read more on the subject here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/06/25/AR20090… Arsenic can cause heart disease, diabetes and loss of mental function. While it is also found in other foods and environmental factors, one way we can control our arsenic intake it to only EAT ORGANIC CHICKEN. It can make a huge difference.
